What is Sense Writing?

Developed and taught by Madelyn Kent, former Creative Writing faculty at New York University, Sense Writing is a ground-breaking approach to creative writing that works with training your nervous system to find flow and melt stubborn creative blocks. Combining accessible writing and movement sequences, Sense Writing has helped hundreds of people around the world get to the core of their writing craft.

Sense Writing I: Life Stories, Memory, and Fiction

21 & 22 December

For everyone. Sense Writing I is a prerequisite for all other workshops. For writers of all levels and genres.

In a supportive environment that integrates accessible physical and writing exercises, you will learn to calm your nervous system, find lightness in your body, and mine your imagination, all while connecting to the core of your craft. Sense Writing frees you from the thoughts you think you “should” be thinking so you learn to create without anxiety. 

  • Work with the nervous system to interrupt body and language patterns that inhibit writing
  • Find pleasure in all the stages of writing
  • Refine your craft
  • Complete two pieces of memoir and/or fiction.
  • All workshop fees include a Sense Writing Training© recording designed to help you continue the practice at home.

Includes written feedback of your work by Madelyn.

All workshops are taught in English, but you are welcome to write in Hebrew.

Schedule: Thursday evening, 21 December, 18:30- 21:45 and Friday, 22 December, 10:30-15:00


Location: @Yafo Yoga, Mazal Dagim St. 26, Jaffa. Free parking. A beautiful studio just a 5-minute walk from the clock tower, adjacent to park and sea.

*Workshops fill up, so please reserve your spot early with a 250 NIS deposit by Credit Card, Israeli Bank Transfer, or PayPal. Deposits are non-refundable but never expire. If you need to cancel before the start of the workshop, you could use the deposit for the next workshop.
