How Does Sense Writing Work?

Sense Writing uses over 100 specialized writing and neuro-sensory movement sequences to unlock your creative process. These techniques utilize the brain’s “neuroplasticity.”  This term was coined in the second half of the 20th century when researchers found that many functions of the brain (neuro) can be changed (plastic) even until late in life.

In addition to workshops given in cities all over the world, Sense Writing has been taught at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Kripalu Retreat and New York's Open Center.

Sense Writing I is both an introductory class and a transformational experience.

Sense Writing II & III (and Sense Writing Online) provide even deeper development of the Sense Writing techniques.

What the Community is Saying

  • “I don’t feel the blocks I used to feel. There is so much memory and emotion stored in the body and breath. Sense Writing was a way to get really grounded in that, which helps me find a way into a character, myself, or into a scene.”
    — Donnaldson Brown
  • Once I experienced this flow, I understood what my friend meant when she said Sense Writing changed everything for her.
    — Iva Radivojevic, Filmmaker, Guggenheim Recipient
  • The Sense Writing workshops access a profundity that other writing workshops have rarely attained at this level.
    — Raluca Albu, Writer and Editor, Guernica Magazine
  • Okay, what's a less dramatic way of telling you that this class has changed my life?
    — Olga Kreimer, Journalist, Los Angeles Review of Books
