What is Sense Writing?
Sense Writing is a ground-breaking combination of movement and writing exercises. Developed by Madelyn Kent, former faculty of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and Feldenkrais practitioner, Sense Writing has helped hundreds of people around the world— non-writers and writers—find creative flow and get to the core of their writing craft. Taught at Kripalu Yoga Center, New York’s Open Center, and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Sense Writing: Your Way In*
Discover your love of writing, whether you’re a beginner or a long-time writer struggling with a creative block. In a supportive environment that integrates accessible physical and writing exercises, you will learn to:
- Bypass body and language patterns that inhibit writing
- Uncover the connections between nervous system regulation and creative flow
- Complete two pieces of memoir and/or fiction.
Find lightness in your body and mine your imagination, all while connecting to the core of your craft. Sense Writing frees you from the thoughts you think you “should” be thinking so you learn to create without anxiety. Includes written feedback of your work by Madelyn.
*Sense Writing is organized around three levels (I-III). Sense Writing: Your Way In is the first level (I) and a prerequisite for all other workshops.
